Intake of raw garlic could help prevent lung cancer. These are the findings of research by the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The healthful effects of garlic have already been established in cardiovascular protection and immune system maintenance.

In fact, World Health Organization guidelines recommend that the adult population consume one clove of fresh garlic every day. The Chinese study went further. 1,424 lung cancer patients and 4,543 healthy individuals were surveyed about the intake of raw garlic in the diet and possible smoking attitude.

A research outcome found that the risk of lung cancer would appear to be reduced by up to 30 percent, even in smokers, by consuming raw garlic two or more times a week. These considerations would also apply to intake through supplements.
