The benefits of Italian breakfast with dairy products


Italian breakfast of dairy and baked goods could reduce cardiovascular risks. This is the finding of the Italian Moli-Sani study of 18,177 people over the age of 35, almost equally divided between males and females.

The research

The research, published in the Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases Journal, scored each typical Italian breakfast food: milk, coffee, tea, yogurt, crusty bread and rusk, breakfast cereal, brioche, cookies, honey, sugar and jam.

The result

Subjects who regularly consumed the listed foods at breakfast were found to be in better health and at lower risk of overweight, hypertension, hyperglycemia and cholesterolemia, compared with the comparison groups. A confirmation of the importance of eating a good Italian breakfast.
