Di questi, 42,5 milioni non riescono a procurarsi il cibo quotidiano necessario indispensabile alla nutrizione. Al contempo, ogni anno in Europa 88 milioni di tonnellate di alimenti vengono destinati a rifiuto, con un costo di smaltimento stimato in 142 miliardi di euro.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Uno scandalo a catena e una catena di scandali<\/strong>, da attribuirsi a politiche sociali gravemente inadeguate a livello di Unione Europea e di singoli Stati membri. In violazione del <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FarisAhmedUSC\/status\/917038566164885504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diritto al cibo<\/a>, che si colloca tra i diritti umani internazionali proclamati dalle Nazioni Unite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nella produzione e distribuzione<\/strong> degli alimenti, questi dati sono sintomatici dell\u2019intollerabile inefficienza di una filiera da sempre concepita e sostenuta nella sua unica velleit\u00e0 di tutelare i redditi degli operatori coinvolti. Senza badare al consumo di risorse essenziali i cui frutti sono distribuiti in misura sempre pi\u00f9 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/rising-inequality-is-hurting-social-cohesion-and-even-growth-citi-2017-10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diseguale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Le_linee_guida_della_Commissione_europea\"><\/span>Le linee guida della Commissione europea<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Anzich\u00e9 esprimere il coraggio<\/strong>\u00a0di una politica sociale comune e coesa, all\u2019insegna di quel principio di\u00a0\u00c9galit\u00e9\u00a0evocato dai tempi della rivoluzione francese a fondamento della democrazia, la politica neoliberista della Commissione presieduta da Jean-Claude Juncker lavora sui sintomi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Si rivolge perci\u00f2 agli Stati membri<\/strong>, con l\u2019obiettivo di coinvolgere gli attori della filiera alimentare nel recupero di quelle preziose risorse &#8211; il\u00a0<em>surplus food\u00a0<\/em>&#8211; che possono e anzi dovrebbero, nei toni diplomatici di Bruxelles &#8211; venire destinate ai bisognosi anzich\u00e9 a rifiuti. Grazie al lodevole impegno di quelle organizzazioni, come il Banco Alimentare in Italia, la Caritas e altri istituti &#8211; che da decenni si dedicano, tra l\u2019altro, a lottare contro lo spreco alimentare.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Surplus_food_e_Surplus_people\"><\/span><em>Surplus food<\/em>\u00a0e\u00a0<em>Surplus people<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Il\u00a0<em>surplus food<\/em>\u00a0recuperato<\/strong>\u00a0ai fini della sua redistribuzione alle classi meno abbienti rappresenta oggi lo 0,47% del cibo complessivamente sprecato in UE (appena 535mila tonnellate, dati 2016).
