Nel 2017, un&#8217;area estesa quanto l&#8217;Italia \u00e8 andata distrutta. Un campo da football al secondo.(1) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>L\u2019impatto sulle societ\u00e0 e le loro economie<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> tradizionali, oltrech\u00e9 sull\u2019ambiente, \u00e8 micidiale. Poich\u00e9 a bruciare sono i mezzi di sussistenza di circa 1,6 miliardi di individui. E le foreste &#8211; oltre a costituire una fonte essenziale di cibo &#8211; sono anche la patria dell\u201980% della biodiversit\u00e0 globale. Con un ruolo unico nel ciclo globale del carbonio.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>La deforestazione<\/b><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>globale<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"> emette ogni anno pi\u00f9 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\">gas-serra<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"> dell\u2019intera Unione europea. Emissioni destinate a protrarsi per almeno 7-8 decenni, a seguito degli ecocidi. (2) I suoi moventi sono diversi, bens\u00ec accomunati dalll\u2019estensione di monocolture per la produzione di <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>commodities<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"> alimentari. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u2019<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>We now have even more evidence that climate change is caused not just by burning coal and oil for transport and energy, but by the industrial food system itself and the corporate quest for profits that drives its expansion. Indeed, <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>climate change and land grabs are inextricably linked<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>.\u2019 (3) <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Due terzi delle deforestazioni tropicali<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> sono provocati dalla gestione irresponsabile delle foreste con finalit\u00e0 agricole speculative, legate alla crescente domanda di <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">soia e olio di palma<\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">. (4) Ed \u00e8 proprio la monotonia della domanda &#8211; sempre ispirata alla massimizzazione dei profitti, a ogni costo &#8211; ad alimentare appunto la deforestazione. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>L\u2019Europa non pu\u00f2 continuare a connivere<\/b><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\">. Almeno la met\u00e0 delle superfici disboscate illegalmente \u00e8 utilizzata proprio per soddisfare il mercato europeo, mentre le banche del vecchio continente mantengono la leadership nel finanziamento dell\u2019espansione dell\u2019<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>agrobusiness<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"> nei Paesi delle ex-colonie tropicali. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Gli incendi delle <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>foreste<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">, tuttora in corso a servizio dell\u2019espansione della monocoltura della palma da olio ha colpito duramente l\u2019Indonesia. Provocando emissioni tra 207 e 650 tonnellate di carbonio per ettaro. (5) Causando, nel solo 2015, emissioni tra 1.600 e 1.800 miliardi di tonnellate di CO2. Un inquinamento atmosferico senza pari, dalla prima rivoluzione industriale a oggi, con gravissimi impatti sulla salute umana. (6)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Combattere_i_cambiamenti_climatici\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Combattere i cambiamenti climatici<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Per ridurre le emissioni di gas-serra<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">, i governi del pianeta hanno riconosciuto che il fermo alla deforestazione \u00e8 lo strumento pi\u00f9 semplice ed economico. Ed \u00e8 proprio perci\u00f2 che un capitolo fondamentale dell\u2019Accordo di Parigi sui cambiamenti climatici riguarda azioni idonee a mitigare le deforestazioni. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>Meeting the internationally agreed objective of keeping global temperature rise below 2\u00b0C compared to pre-industrial levels will require a cut in global emissions of at least 50% below 1990 levels by 2050. This reduction will be impossible to achieve without substantial action to combat deforestation<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">\u2019 (Commissione europea, \u2018<\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>Combatting tropical deforestation: the REDD+ initiative\u2019<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">) (7)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>L\u2019obiettivo dell\u2019Accordo di Parigi<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> postula l\u2019arresto delle deforestazioni e la drastica riduzione del consumo di combustibili fossili. Ma non basta. Gli ecosistemi forestali degradati devono venire ripristinati lavorando assieme alle comunit\u00e0 locali!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Parola chiave, <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>agroforestazione<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>.<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> Nei paesaggi agricoli popolati c\u2019\u00e8 un potenziale enorme, che pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato per aumentare lo stoccaggio di carbonio.(8)<\/span><i> <\/i><span lang=\"it-IT\">E ridare alle comunit\u00e0 \u2013 nelle zone tropicali spesso vittime di <\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>land grabbing <\/i><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">\u2013 le loro terre ancestrali e la loro fonte principale di sostentamento. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u2018<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>The forest is the source of our lives. This is why deforestation removes and limits our ability to live with dignity. Logging and plantation companies in Indonesia continue to demolish, evict, and destroy our forests and agro-forests. Communities have lost and are still losing their livelihoods. They now have difficulties in finding decent sources of food. Their indigenous knowledge is threatened and they are suffering malnutrition and health problems. Even well-planned development assistance programmes cannot replace the benefits of the forests being lost. Action has to be taken to stop rights violations and forest clearance<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">\u2019 (Franky Samperante, ONG Pusaka, Indonesia). (9) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"La_petizione\"><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>La petizione<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Il 4 maggio 2018 oltre 20 ONG <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">in tutto il mondo hanno deciso di intervenire proattivamente. Raccogliendo pi\u00f9 di 159.000 firme in meno di due mesi.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Obiettivo della petizione<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> \u00e8 esortare l\u2019Unione europea a rispettare gli impegni assunti a livello internazionale per fermare le deforestazioni. Promuovendo la formazione di un Piano d\u2019Azione europeo per proteggere le foreste e rispettare i diritti delle comunit\u00e0 locali. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>Sin dal 2008 l\u2019Unione europea si \u00e8 impegnata<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> ad arrestare la distruzione delle foreste al pi\u00f9 tardi entro il 2030 (ipotizzando che in tale periodo qualche area verde sar\u00e0 sopravvissuta agli scempi che incedono) e a dimezzare la deforestazione tropicale lorda entro il 2020. (10) Obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile (<\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"><i>Sustainable Development Goals<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">) pi\u00f9 consoni &#8211; fermare la deforestazione e la perdita di biodiversit\u00e0, nonch\u00e9 ripristinare le foreste degradate entro il 2020 &#8211; sono stati frattanto definiti a livello di Nazioni Unite. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"it-IT\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"it-IT\"><b>A meno di diciotto mesi dal 2020,<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\"> peraltro, le industrie aventi sede in Europa non hanno fatto alcun concreto passo avanti. Mentre la deforestazione avanza.
