La precedente autorizzazione dei semi di\u00a0<em>Salvia hispanica L.<\/em>\u00a0come \u2018nuovi alimenti\u2019 era infatti limitata alla loro vendita quali prodotti preconfezionati.<\/p>\n<p><strong>L\u2019esecutivo<\/strong>\u00a0di Bruxelles &#8211; alla luce del parere EFSA\u00a0\u2018<em>Safety of chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) as a novel food for extended uses pursuant to Regulation (UE) 2015\/2283<\/em>\u2019 (3) &#8211; non ha ravvisato alcun rischio per la salute umana. La relativa voce, nell\u2019elenco dei\u00a0<em>Novel Foods<\/em>\u00a0autorizzati in UE, \u00e8 stata quindi modificata di conseguenza.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Semi_di_chia_alcune_attenzioni_e_limiti_dimpiego\"><\/span>Semi di chia, alcune attenzioni e limiti d\u2019impiego<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>I\u00a0semi di chia<\/strong>\u00a0sono preziose fonti di acidi grassi\u00a0Omega 3. La loro autorizzazione in UE, nel 2009, venne sottoposta a limiti quantitativi di utilizzo negli alimenti poi rimossi nel 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alcune attenzioni<\/strong>\u00a0sono tuttora richieste nelle varie fasi di:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; autocontrollo e controlli pubblici ufficiali, con riguardo a possibili contaminazioni da residui di pesticidi e micotossine. (4)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; utilizzo come ingrediente, soggetto ad appositi limiti sui prodotti sottoposti a temperature &gt;120 \u00b0C. Onde prevenire la formazione di acrilammide. (5)<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Novel_food_Schizochytrium_limacinum_sicura_anche_per_lattanti\"><\/span><em>Novel food:\u00a0Schizochytrium limacinum,\u00a0<\/em>sicura anche per lattanti<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Progress Biotech BV<\/strong>, societ\u00e0 olandese specializzata in prodotti a base di Omega-3 di origine algale, il 14.3.19 ha presentato alla Commissione Europea una domanda di estensione dell\u2019uso del\u00a0<em>novel food<\/em>\u00a0\u2018<em>olio derivato dalla microalga\u00a0Schizochytrium sp<\/em>.\u2019\u00a0&#8211; ceppo WZU477 &#8211; alle formule per lattanti e a quelle di proseguimento destinate a lattanti e bambini nella prima infanzia (reg. UE n. 609\/2013). Con clausola di riservatezza sui propri studi scientifici a supporto della domanda.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A seguito di\u00a0valutazione<\/strong> favorevole di EFSA, (6) la Commissione ha deciso di attribuire lo stato di\u00a0<em>novel food<\/em>\u00a0al solo ceppo WZU477 e alle condizioni d\u2019uso proposte. In linea con le aspettative del richiedente, i cui studi sono stati riconosciuti essenziali a comprovare la sicurezza del nuovo alimento. Progress Biotech BV ha cos\u00ec ottenuto l\u2019autorizzazione esclusiva per 5 anni, come gi\u00e0 si \u00e8 osservato con la\u00a0microalga\u00a0<em>Euglena gracilis<\/em>\u00a0a favore di Kemin Foods L.C.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Schizochytrium_limacinum_un_superfood_vocato_alleconomia_circolare\"><\/span><em>Schizochytrium limacinum<\/em>, un\u00a0<em>superfood<\/em>\u00a0vocato all\u2019economia circolare<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>La microalga\u00a0<em>Schizochytrium sp<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0\u00e8 nota per il suo alto tenore di acidi grassi\u00a0Omega-3\u00a0(soprattutto DHA) ed \u00e8 perci\u00f2 impiegata nella produzione di oli ricchi in DHA e additivi per formule destinate a lattanti e prima infanzia. Oltrech\u00e9 in acquacoltura, per favorire la crescita e l\u2019efficienza del sistema immunitario &#8211; grazie alla positiva rimodulazione del microbiota (come\u00a0Algatan\u00ae per gli animali terrestri)- con particolare riguardo ai gamberi. (7)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Il tenore di proteine<\/strong>\u00a0(~ 40%) della biomassa residua appare altres\u00ec promettente per i suoi destini a\u00a0<em>superfood<\/em>\u00a0(non ancora esplorato),\u00a0<em>superfeed<\/em>\u00a0e fertilizzante. Un peptide ad azione antiossidante &#8211; isolato e sintetizzato dall\u2019idrolisi proteica della biomassa di\u00a0<em>Schizochytrium sp.<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; si presta altres\u00ec all\u2019impiego come\u00a0antiossidante\u00a0naturale.
