La biomassa algale che ne deriva pu\u00f2 tuttavia venire contaminata da batteri che riducono le possibilit\u00e0 d\u2019impiego. Oltre ad avere \u2018<em>spesso un basso contenuto di lipidi e carboidrati, che ne riducono il valore come alimento per il bestiame o come precursore per la produzione chimica di maggior valore<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I ricercatori<\/strong> hanno perci\u00f2 sperimentato una inversione del processo. Invece di inserire le microalghe nelle acque di scarto, hanno estratto i nutrienti dalle acque di scarico alimentari del servizio di ristorazione della <em>Washington University<\/em> con un sistema bio-elettrochimico e li hanno poi somministrati alle microalghe coltivate separatamente in un fotobioreattore.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Il_risultato\"><\/span>Il risultato<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Il confronto di qualit\u00e0<\/strong> della biomassa algale ottenuta con questo metodo di <em>upcycling<\/em>\u00a0\u00e8 netto. \u2018<em>I risultati di questo studio hanno dimostrato un approccio efficace per estrarre i nutrienti dalle acque reflue per una maggiore crescita delle microalghe e una migliore qualit\u00e0 della biomassa<\/em>\u2019, spiegano gli autori.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Il raccolto<\/strong> cos\u00ec ottenuto, in confronto a quello derivato dalla immersione delle alghe nelle stesse acque reflue alimentari, mostra<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>una densit\u00e0 di biomassa di 8,3 volte superiore,<\/li>\n<li>un contenuto di lipidi pi\u00f9 elevato di 1,4 volte (da 18,5 a 26,2%),<\/li>\n<li>una concentrazione di microalghe pari al 90% della biomassa, contro il 30% circa di quella ottenuta da coltivazione nelle acque reflue alimentari.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Marta Strinati<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Note\"><\/span>Note<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>(1) Zixuan Wang, Christopher J.
