Identificata per la prima volta nel 1926, la malattia si \u00e8 estesa in tutto il mondo, con almeno quattro pandemie dagli esiti economici e veterinari molto gravi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Il virus<\/strong>\u00a0colpisce numerose specie di uccelli &#8211; domestici e selvatici &#8211; e le sue manifestazioni cliniche variano in relazione alle specie e i ceppi virali coinvolti. Sintomi respiratori sono spesso seguiti da manifestazioni nervose, diarrea ed edema cranico, con effetti spesso letali.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gli effetti sull\u2019uomo<\/strong>\u00a0del Newcastle disease &#8211; come quelli dell\u2019influenza aviaria\u00a0(2) &#8211; sono stati descritti in sporadici casi di congiuntivite, a seguito di contatto diretto con elevate cariche virali. (3)<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Malattia_di_Newcastle_nel_pollame_il_focolaio_in_Brasile\"><\/span>2) Malattia di Newcastle nel pollame, il focolaio in Brasile<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Circa 7.000 polli<\/strong>, pari alla met\u00e0 degli animali presenti in un allevamento sito nella municipalit\u00e0 di Anta Gorda &#8211; nello stato di Rio Grande do Sul, terzo produttore di pollame nella federazione brasiliana &#8211; sono deceduti a causa dell\u2019infezione registrata nei giorni scorsi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La diagnosi del contagio<\/strong> da virus della specie\u00a0<em>avian paramyxovirus<\/em>\u00a0di sierotipo (APMV-1) \u00e8 stata confermata dal Laboratorio Federale di Difesa Agraria di San Paolo, riconosciuto dalla World Health Organization (WHO, o OMS) come laboratorio di riferimento internazionale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gli ultimi casi <\/strong>di Newcastle disease confermati in Brasile risalgono al 2006, nello stesso Rio Grande do Sul oltrech\u00e9 negli Stati di Amazonas e Mato Grosso.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Gestione_del_rischio\"><\/span>3) Gestione del rischio<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Il ministro brasiliano\u00a0<\/strong>dell\u2019Agricoltura e della Pesca Carlos Favaro ha dichiarato di avere ordinato immediatamente la messa in quarantena dell\u2019azienda avicola, oltre all\u2019abbattimento degli altri volatili ivi presenti.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018<em>Un&#8217;indagine complementare<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0verr\u00e0 inoltre condotta in un raggio di 10 chilometri intorno all&#8217;area del focolaio, assieme alle altre misure necessarie in base alla valutazione epidemiologica<\/em>\u2019 (MAPA, Minist\u00e9rio da Agricultura e Pecu\u00e1ria, 17.7.24).<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Brasile_blocco_allexport_di_carni_di_pollame\"><\/span>4) Brasile, blocco all\u2019export di carni di pollame<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Il governo<\/strong>\u00a0di Rio de Janeiro, oltre alla notifica del focolaio di Newcastle disease, ha annunciato la sospensione delle esportazioni di pollame verso 44 Paesi tra cui Cina, Argentina, gli Stati membri dell\u2019Unione Europea, il Giappone e l\u2019Arabia Saudita.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le restrizioni temporanee all\u2019export<\/strong> potrebbero interessare \u2018nel peggiore dei casi\u2019, secondo ABPA (Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira de Prote\u00edna Animal), fino a 60.000 tonnellate di pollame. Il Brasile produce 1,2 milioni di tonnellate ed esporta in media 430.000 t di prodotti avicoli al mese.
