Oxfam Italy is part of the international confederation Oxfam, an independent network that fights against injustice and poverty in 92 countries. With more than 3,000 partners, it implements emergency interventions during disasters or conflicts, carries out development programs to empower people to take charge of their lives, and supports opinion and education campaigns. The organization works with agricultural producers to increase their income opportunities and bring about food supply chains that are efficient, equitable and sustainable for both the environment and those who work in them, with initiatives active in such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Palestine and the Dominican Republic, to name a few. With the project“COLTIVA – Food, Life, Planet,” Oxfam Italy wants to act directly on the causes of food injustice in a world where one billion individuals are hungry and 50 percent of food is wasted. The goal is to bring governments and businesses together to farm better, valuing the work of small farmers and giving them the land and resources they need to make a living, directing corporate behavior and policies toward more sustainable production and distribution, and asking consumers to make more ethical choices.
