Safety and sustainability have been the focus of attention of Italian companies operating in the fish canning industry for many years.
Safety and sustainability are understood across the board: safety concerns both the production processes and the consumer’s use of the product; sustainability concerns, first and foremost, the raw material, but it extends to all stages of the production chain up to the final offering.
Every day, Italian businesses perform about 2.8 million self-test analyses, totaling more than 1 billion analyses per year. All this in a national system that is at the forefront in Europe: more than 720,000 company inspection visits by the relevant authorities take place in Italy every year.
Fish canning plants, like other animal products, are also subject to inspection activities conducted by public veterinarians. Food safety, as is well known, also includes how the product is stored and used.
