The Mediterranean diet helps preserve cognitive function from the weakening that generally comes with age. This is shown by a meta-analysis conducted by the University of Exeter in Great Britain and published in Epidemiology.
For the first time, through this study, there was a systematic analysis of as many as 12 research studies in which the relationship between the Mediterranean diet and cognitive function was investigated.
Confirmation emerges that adopting this diet preserves cognitive function, induces a slowing of the decline typical of aging, and reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.
