Sustainability in FMCG, Green Retail takes stock
The FMCG sustainability meeting, Green Retail Forum & Expo, returns to Milan, Sept. 22, 2016, at the Fabbrica del Vapore. The event is attended by top players from retail, industry and solution providers (green suppliers), with the aim of comparing notes and identifying ways to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and conscious mass consumption.
Seminars, conferences and workshops are planned at the 6th edition of Green Retail. Speakers include lawyer Dario Dongo, founder of GIFT – Great Italian Food Trade; Vito Gulli, president of Generale Conserve, an Italian group that owns Asdomar and De Rica and is well known for sustainable production; and Pietro Di Leo, owner of the cookie factory of the same name.
The title of the event-“Supply Chain Transparency and Conscious Choices in FMCG”-gets to the heart of a scenario that does not allow for delays. Italian consumers are increasingly attentive to the intrinsic quality of products: 70 percent read the label before buying, 89 percent look for information on product origin, processes and characteristics. Fifty percent, influenced by the Volkswagen case, fear that all companies may lie, even with certifications.
