The Mediterranean diet is known and appreciated even in Japan, where the traditional diet is so balanced that it generates the global record for longevity. On the topic, MeDiet Japan, an international symposium, sponsored by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan, is being held on 18 and 19.11.21.

MeDiet Japan, health on the plate

MeDiet Japan
presents itself as a ‘digital handbook’ that provides answers on the Mediterranean diet, the Japanese diet, and in general on the tricks to follow a healthy lifestyle.

The event unfolds over two days of panel discussions, video interviews and live talks where leading experts and some testimonials (Olympic medal athletes Vanessa Ferrari, Carolina Kostner and Yuki Kawauchi) pit the merits of the Mediterranean diet, attempting a comparison with the Japanese diet. There are four thematic sections:

– MeKitchen,

– MeCulture,

– MeHealth,

– MeLifestyle.

Identikit of the Mediterranean diet

The questions addressed by the speakers are already posted on the website dedicated to the event. They cover the history, typical foods, health benefits and non-food elements of the Mediterranean diet understood as a way of life, not just a dietary regimen.

As it reads., after all, the motivation for the inclusion of the Mediterranean diet, in 2010 by Unesco, among the intangible world heritage as ‘a set of skills, knowledge, rituals, symbols, and traditions concerning the growing, harvesting, fishing, farming, preserving, processing, cooking , and particularly the sharing and consumption of food‘.

The online event

An online conference is scheduled on the second day of the event, during which questions can be posed to 20 international experts in connection: Italians, of course, but also Japanese, Greek, Spanish, and British.

Reservations (maximum 100 participants) can be obtained at this link.
