The University of Camerino (Unicam) has launched Canapa Revolution, a project to extract and purify CBD from industrial hemp waste and create valuable by-products.

The business idea of Hemp Revolution is to use industrial hemp as a multifunctional product and an emblem of thecircular economy. ‘Theproject aims to isolate cbd in its pure, crystalline form from inflorescence and waste materials of industrial hemp provided by a partner company.
During the first year of research, we fine-tuned, thanks to the machinery acquired through the PSR project, the various steps that led us to obtain a fair amount of purified cbd‘, explains Riccardo Petrelli, scientific leader of the project coordinated together with Prof. Filippo Maggi in the University of Camerino, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Health Products.
